Biking in the Zillertal

Cycling &
mountain biking

The Zillertal offers 800 km of developed biking and cycling routes – from easy rides on high-altitude mountain roads to challenging single trails for true mountain biking enthusiasts, there is something for everyone here!

The Zillertal tour is a relaxed route, which we gladly recommend: the well-developed Zillertal bike path connects the most important towns in the valley over a length of 31 km.

Would you like to ride high on the mountain but save yourself the strenuous climb on the bike? No problem: the Penkenbahn brings you and your bike to the starting line at an elevation of almost 2,000m. Easy tours as well the Penken leisure tour and the “Penkenbahn II” route, which leads downhill over beautiful meadows to Mayrhofen, begin here.

Are you looking for a real challenge? Awaiting you on the Penken Tour are steep ascents that lead up 1,600 vertical meters - on the 40 kilometer long route, you can breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the mountains while looking forward to the racing downhill descent. For this tour, you will need about 4 hours.

Traveling by bicycle or mountain bike, not only will you get to know the region, but you will also pass outdoor swimming pools, recreational parks, high ropes courses, and pastures. There are also many opportunities for a culinary stopover - whether in the valley or up on the mountain.
